Shetland's Saxon was manufactured between 1987 and 1993. Only 37 were built in this time, and Far From Home was the second of these, making her an important and collectable 4 + 2 cruiser. She was refurbished in 2020 and has been well looked after by her current owners.

The cockpit is well designed with folding helmsman and navigator seats for easy stowage, and there is U-shaped bench seating in the rear that can be converted to a double berth for extra sleeping accommodation or sunbathing on a beautiful day. The helm position consists of wheel and throttle as well as all the switches and gauges needed to navigate her, and she has an Icom marine radio. The windscreen is collapsible allowing passage under low bridges, such as Osney Bridge, and she was fitted with a new canopy in 2020.

The open plan cabin offers good standing room for a boat of this size. There is a dinette to port that converts to a double bed as well as seating around a small table in the bow that can be used as 2 single berths or converted to a double.
The galley, located to starboard, contains stainless steel sink with tap and drainer, and cupboard below. The worktop lifts to reveal a 2 burner hob, and there is room below for a cool box.
A toilet compartment contains a Porta Potti cassette toilet.

Far From Home had 2 new batteries in 2024, and comes complete with mooring pins, boat hook, navigation lights, lines, anchor, fenders, and everything needed to take her cruising.

Her BSS certificate is valid until April 2025.
