Pure Efficiency

The high aspect ratio of the rig and appendages (maximum draught 2.65m), combined with a generous sail area for a moderate displacement, gives the First 44.7 a certain innate ability upwind and an exceptional balance which delights the discerning helmsman. With its surprising all round potential for speed, the pleasure is evident and the sailing range is increasing!

Fast and Easy

Its ease on the water, very seaworthy handling and stiffness under sail, quickly reinforce the impression of easy power afforded by the 44.7.

Style

The very smooth hull shape and coachroof line, the slender hull ports, the slim profile under sail, are the hallmark of an aesthetic and refined lifestyle.

Hi-tech and functional

The 44.7 is made from proven composite materials. The innermoulding structures absorb all the loads of the rigging, the keel, the engine and the rudder; like the structural marine plywood bulkheads, these structures are sealed to the hull, which greatly reduces the local stresses and increases its overall rigidity. The laminate/balsa sandwich deck also features an inner-moulding; it is stiff and light with good thermal and sound insulation properties. Everything has been thought out on the deck and in the cockpit to facilitate sailing and manoeuvring: running rigging led back close to the companionway or near the helm, a genoa furler as standard, a very complete deck gear which is well dimensioned and ergonomically laid out, numerous storage facilities, a large stainless steel wheel with twin sets of spokes mounted on a GRP pedestal that serves as a foothold for the helmsman and a support for the compass and the electronics.

Interior show of comfort

Wood and upholstery in light colours, spotlights integrated in the deckhead the accommodation has been designed with a focus on space, ease of movement and comfort. The very refined, though curvaceous, style is evidence of this. The saloon bench seat can be moved under the table to enable the passage of sail bags and furling the spinnaker as far forward as the forecabin. A high number of storage areas (fitted with ventilation systems) have been provided; with special mention for the large dresser forward of the chefs cuisine and a functional chart table with all its lockers and shelving.

The forward owner's suite

A real owners cabin forward, with a large double berth, a bench seat, a hanging locker and numerous storage facilities, and above all a private head compartment and bathroom.

The guests' cabins

Guests and family will be nicely accomodated in both rear cabins featuring a double berth, plenty of lockers, and close to the central head and bathroom.

Little secrets

Weight centring is facilitated by the position of the engine with its SailDrive transmission, by the extra storage box at the foot of the companionway to store the mooring line, by a unique accommodation layout to avoid dispersion of mass in the extremities The cockpit bench seats complying to IMS Cruising and IRC Rules are fixed to avoid removable lockers penalties. The fully detailed inventory list unveils the richness of the standard equipment and deck fittings as well as the whole options available for connoisseurs.
